Morning Devotional 021423 Talk About Love

Liz’s Morning Devotional: Scripture selected from Upper Room

February 14, 2023

Read Psalm 103:1-5

1 Let my whole being bless the LORD! Let everything inside me bless his holy name! 2 Let my whole being bless the LORD and never forget all his good deeds: 3 how God forgives all your sins, heals all your sickness, 4 saves your life from the pit, crowns you with faithful love and compassion, 5 and satisfies you with plenty of good things so that your youth is made fresh like an eagle’s.

Good Morning, Let God’s love direct you in all things!

On this day we set aside for love, let us consider the one from whom our love comes: God. How do we let our whole beings bless the Lord? First, we take time to consider all that God provides and does for us. This could take a while! The short verses of today’s Psalm will get us started, but then we should examine our own lives and the list grows.

Next, take time to talk to God and give thanks for your endless list of blessings. During this process, I pray that you begin to feel your heart warmed. This is not a contest to see who will finish first, savor these precious moments with God. These are the moments when my heart and soul begin to fill with music, but we each have our own reaction to times of joy.

Finally, as you bask in the glow of the moment, allow God’s love to consume you. This is when this desire to serve others so that you can share this great gift of love is born. Those who are consumed by God’s love can’t help but serve others. We were born for such a time as this. Esther 4:14 Allow God’s love to flow in and through you so that all are blessed.

When we are brought low from the weariness and brokenness of our earthly domain, focus on God’s love. Lift yourself out of the muck as you proclaim the promise of hope from Isaiah 40:28-31. Allow God’s love to set you free!

28

Do you not know?

Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God,

the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary,

and his understanding no one can fathom.

29

He gives strength to the weary

and increases the power of the weak.

30

Even youths grow tired and weary,

and young men stumble and fall;

31

but those who hope in the Lord

will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint.

Loving God, Thank You for being with us. Your love empowers us in our times of failure and weakness. Thank you! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen

Thought for the day: God’s love sets us free.

Love God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength! Pastor Liz
